The Latrobe Valley Tennis Association was formed in 1948 and conducted its first season in 1948-1949. 

The inaugural President was Mr Jock Hutchinson (Yallourn Tennis Club), who remained in this role for four years.

The inaugural Secretary was Mr Viv Gore (Yallourn Tennis Club), who remained in this role for six years.

Local identity and La Trobe City councillor Mr Darrell White is the longest serving President having filled that role from 1977-78 to 1990-1991 a total of 14 consecutive years.

The late Stan Firmin was Secretary/Treasurer from 1954-1955 to 1985-1986 a total of 32 consecutive years.

Mr Jim Hill was President for ten consecutive years from 1959-1960 to 1968-1969.

Mr Robert Goldie was Score Secretary for 27 consecutive years from 1964-1965 to 1990-1991.

To move with the times the Association became an incorporated body on the 1st September 1995.

Mr Ian Wilson served as Score Secretary for 13 consecutive years from 1991-1992 to 2003-2004.

Mrs Lesa Domagala (Bradbury) served as Secretary/Treasurer for 15 consecutive years and stepped down from her position at the end of the 2005/2006 season.

Our Country Weeks Triumphs

In 1950, the LVTA (Latrobe Valley Tennis Association) won its first A Grade Mens Country Week title.  The Team consisted of: Jim Hill, Captain (Yallourn), Bob Dinsdale (Yallourn), Bob Crookston (Yallourn) and K Lawton.

In 1961-1962, the LVTA won its first womens Country Week Title - B Grade Womens.  The Team consisted of : Miss J Norton (Traralgon), Miss Jackie Gaywood (Traralgon), Miss J Carlisle (Yallourn), Miss Mary Jones (Moe).

In 1962-1963, the LVTA won its first A Grade Womens Country Week title.  The Team consisted of: Miss V Nuttall (Yallourn), Miss Jill Gaywood (Traralgon), Miss J Carlisle (Yallourn), Mrs Mary Firmin (Morwell).

In 1976-1977, the LVTA won its second A Grade Womens Country  Week title.  The team consisted of: Miss Elaine White (Andrijczak) (Morwell), Mrs Mary Firmin (Morwell), Mrs Maree Hall (Moe), Mrs Josephine Hourigan (Traralgon).

From 1963-1964 to 1969-1970, the LVTA won seven (7) consecutive A Grade Mens Country Week titles.  Murray French and Darrell White played in all seven winning teams and are still current players.  Dick   Wilson also played in all seven victories.  The winning teams are as follows:

*  1963-1964  Murray French (Yallourn),  Darrell White (Morwell), P Bruce (Traralgon), Dick Wilson (Morwell)

*  1964-1965  Murray French (Yallourn), Darrell White (Morwell), Robert Goldie (Morwell, Dick Wilson                            (Morwell)

*  1965-1966  Murray French (Yallourn), Darrell White (Morwell), Mike Andrijczak (Newborough), Dick                             Wilson (Morwell)

*  1966-1967  Murray French (Yallourn), Darrell White (Morwell), Mike Andrijczak (Newborough), Dick                             Wilson (Morwell)

*  1967-1968  Murray French (Yallourn), Darrell White (Morwell), Mike Andrijczak (Newborough), Dick                             Wilson (Morwell)
